VOCALIST/COMPOSER/LYRICIST Born in England in 1968, Clare became interested in jazz at the age of ten. By thirteen, she was playing the clarinet and vocalizing melodies.
During her teenage years, Clare concentrated on her vocal talents and in 1988, moved to New York for a year. It was here that she attended the workshops of Barry Harris, building on a large repertoire of songs and performing them.
Clare then went on to study with Judy Niemack, the highly acclaimed American vocalist. Judy was a very positive influence on the development of Clare's vocal technique and direction and greatly encouraged her potential.
In 1986, Clare completed the one year Jazz Diploma Course at the Guildhall School of Music in London. She performed regularly at many venues in and around London, including Ronnie Scott's with Randy Brecker and Steve Williamson, Pizza on the Park, The Bass Clef and The Royal Festival Hall. She has also run several Jazz Workshops for children and adults.
She has participated in many European Jazz Festivals. The Netherlands(North Sea Jazz Festival), Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and France, and in Asia; Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
In 1993, Clare recorded her first C.D., Clare Foster Sings Wayne Shorter, on the Dutch record label Groove. When released, it received excellent reviews and was voted C.D. of the month on Euro Jazz Radio.
Clare's talents excel not just as a singer but also as a lyricist. She has been assigned by many leading artists to use these skills for different international recording projects.(Recently Clare was engaged to write lyrics for the project by jazz guitarist/composer Ryo Kawasaki)
Clare came to Toronto, Canada in March 1997. Including performances at the Top O'the Senator with some of Canada's finest musicians and the American jazz guitarist Mark Whitfield. Other appearances include The Montreal Bistro, the du Maurier Downtown Jazz Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival and the International Jazz Festival of Ottawa.
In 1998, she was invited to New York as featured artist, lyricist and vocalist for the album "Cosmic Rhythm" by Ryo Kawasaki. She recently completed her 2nd solo album "Believing in Angels" distributed by 33 records in UK while working with Ryo Kawasaki as a featured singer and lyricist/composer with his new band as well as teaching voacals at City Lit, London. She also performed at many leading jazz venues in London, Finland and Berlin/Germany during 2000 to 2001.
Clare is also very active on her teachings on Jazz Vocals both at conservatories and privately. She has taught in London adult education on jazz vocal courses for 6 years. Including w.shops around the country and in her own home. She has also taught in England, Holland and Finland in Conservatories there, including Morley College, London and Jyvaskyla Conservatory, Finland.

• Recorded second album, ‘Believing in Angels’ (33-Jazz).
• 2001 National Jazz Services tour with jazz trio. Appeared on BBC Radio 4.
Performed at Jyvaskyla International Jazz Festival. National Jazz Services Tour with Brazilian Band ‘Claridade’.
• 2002 Recorded album ‘à Vontade’ with band ‘Claridade’. National Jazz Services Tour.
• 2003 National Jazz Services Tour with ‘Claridade’. Recorded third solo album, ‘The Music and I’.
• 2004 Performed at Jersey Festival.
• 2005 Touring in UK.
• 2006 Touring in UK. Performed at ‘Felix’ in Berlin.
